The Royal Government of Bhutan adheres strongly to a policy of high value, low impact/volume tourism.
However, from 16th November 2017, the Tourism Council of Bhutan has agreed the waiver of Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) for tourists visiting the six eastern districts (Mongar, Samdrup Jongkhar, Lhuntse, Tashi Yangtse, Tashigang and Pemagatshel)- meaning discounts of US$ 65 daily.
